Selecting Artwork

06/04/2020

Artwork display is important in your home. Photographs of family, friends, pets, and other photographic visuals are some of the things that can adorn your walls. These are ways to personalize your home, but some people have generic artwork that are general and random prints that box retail stores sell in their home decor collections. These have their place, but when it comes to your home, I personally believe that what you hang on your walls say a lot about who you are. They prompt questions and discussion topics from guests. I enjoy photography and taking my own photos, so I often can use my work to create artwork for the walls in my house.

Not everyone is a photographer or an artist, and that's okay. You can be inspired by other photographers and artists that you like and can purchase their work to hang on your walls. Your local city or town probably has a whole group of artists that create great work that you could purchase from local artisan craft fairs. Whether it's a painting, photography, or some other medium, there is something out there for everyone. The point is to hang things on your walls that have meaning to you.

I recently took an interest to vintage art. If you could gather old photographs of family from the past, these could be displayed in an artistic way. If you're lucky you may have an artist in the family that left behind original works of art or even simple sketches. Maybe there are some old newspaper clippings, movie tickets or playbills that a past family member collected. These findings could be really fun to display!

I hope that you can find some inspiration around you to decorate your walls. It's a fun project and a way to exercise your creativity. If you need help, don't be afraid to ask me for guidance!
