Why a Well-Designed House Is Important
A lot of people don't prioritize a well-designed or decorated home, as there are much other matters in life to prioritize instead. I get it, but it may be more important than you think and it especially comes to light during times such as these, a global pandemic, when you suddenly have to spend most of your time in your house. This is when you realize it can make you crazy when it's not as well organized or aesthetically appealing. You think, "Well, since I'm forced to stay home, I have more time to think about how to redo my house." Your normally "crazy" life is on hold, so have at it! Call me up! However; some may decline the advantage due to financial uncertainty. Money....minor detail.
My point in this case is to plan while you have the money during normal times. Prioritize your home and make it feel like a great place to be, because normal times is when you have the money. Designers help you through the process and save you the time it takes to research all the pieces that will come together in a harmonious room of glory. When normal times are disrupted in the future and you are forced to stay home again, you will be so glad that you made the decision to create a well-designed house. Being home for a long period of time is hard enough as it is, so make it lovely!
Now, for those of you with kids. This is more challenging, because you may want to decorate a certain way that may not be kid friendly, or the kids have just plain taken over the house. Maybe that's the part that makes you crazy at home, so maybe that becomes your design plan, containing your kid's stuff. Either way, designers are here to help!
My young niece and nephew have a designated play room where all the toys are, but a lot of the toys still end up all over the floor in the living room. This is tough because you want your living room to stay toy-free. The kids want more space to play, which is why they bring out the toys to the living room. You may not be able to fix this situation, but you could add plants and/or artwork on the walls that is tasteful and meaningful for you. Perhaps a nice toy basket or caddy could be brought out when it is clean up time, so that the kids don't have to exhaust themselves by transporting toys back and forth to their playroom. Collecting it all within the same room is easiest so that it can be transported at one time back to the play room. Maybe kid-friendly furniture is going to be your decor style for a few years. You can still have nice furniture with kids. There are lots of durable fabrics that are stain-resistant and furniture that is well-constructed to hold up to kids climbing on it. A designer can also help source these pieces. Who said you can't have nice things with kids?
